Will my child get to take dance exams?2024-07-26T22:06:44+00:00

From school age children have the opportunity to take IDTA exams in Ballet, Tap & Contemporary Modern or Theatre Craft. From 6 years onwards our Acro Dancers have the opportunity to earn certificates and medals by teacher assessment in class following the Acrobatic Arts Levels.

Some IDTA exams carry UCAS points to support university entrance. Exams are fantastic opportunities for your child to progress with their dance education, receive recognition for their efforts and appear as a stand out skill on a CV in years to come!

Will my child get to perform?2021-07-14T17:36:38+00:00

Yes! We hold an annual dance show in a local theatre and all children are invited to take part. We also perform in the community for example summer fetes, carnivals and retirement homes. Participation in performances is always optional.

Can I watch my child’s dance classes?2024-07-26T22:08:46+00:00

All of our Pre-School classes allow parents to watch (and for many parents will take part in the class). Our school age classes are independent so parents do not watch these classes. At the end of the Christmas and Summer term we invite parents in to watch the last class or a short class performance. Please follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for regular videos and photos of your child’s classes.

Are there any other costs involved?2022-08-22T12:14:35+00:00

The medals for the Melody Bear and Acro Antics programmes are not included in you class fees and cost £4.50 each. Sticker charts and stickers are free and children will usually achieve one medal per term (for each dance style taken).

For older children exams are usually entered every 1-2 years but this is optional. Exam costs vary from £15-£30 per exam which includes the certificate and medal/plaque.

For our annual theatre show there is a participation charge to cover costume hire, rehearsals and staffing costs. We hire costumes in as this is significantly cheaper then asking you to purchase the costumes. The theatre sells tickets for the show which cover the theatres hire and their professional technical staff.
